Introduction Tensiomyography (TMG) is a method for assessment of electrically evoked muscle contractile properties which is valid, reliable, and have used in sports training, injury prevention, physical therapy, and rehabilitation. Like any other method, it’s validity and reliability depends on numerous factors. The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship and influence of some lower extremity body composition parameters, i.e. lean and fat body mass on tensiomyography parameters in knee joint extensor and flexor muscles. Method The sample consisted of 60 participants (30 men and 30 women) average age 23.9 ± 3.3 years. Body composition parameters (lean body mass of dominant leg, body fat mass of dominant leg) were measured by bioelectrical impedance (In Body 720), while contraction time and maximal displacement were measured by the method of tensiomyography on rectus femoris and biceps femoris muscles of the dominant leg. Of the statistical procedures, correlation and linear regression analyses were used. Results and discussion Statistically significant moderate negative correlation was obsereved between lean body mass of dominant leg and maximal displacement of biceps femoris muscle in men and women (r = - 0.377, R² adj. = 0.112, p = 0.040; r = - 0.498, R² adj. = 0.219, p = 0.007, respectively), body fat mass of dominant leg and maximal displacement of biceps femoris muscle in men (r = -0.447, R² adj. = 0.171, p = 0.013) as well as moderate positive correlation between body fat mass of dominant leg and contraction time of biceps femoris muscle in women (r = 0.384, R² adj. = 0.200, p = 0.043). Conclusion It can be concluded that there is a significant correlation between the lower extremity body composition parameters and muscle contraction speed, that is, muscle stifneess, and that the response of main hamstring muscle on electrical stimuli applied by the method of tensiomyography to some extent depends on the proportion of fat tissue and lean body mass i.e. muscle mass of lower extremity.en_US
= 0.112, p = 0,040; r = - 0.498, R² adj. = 0.219, p = 0.007, respektivno), masne telesne mase dominantne noge i maksimalnog vertikalnog pomeranja mišića biceps femoris kod muškaraca (r = - 0.447, R² adj. = 0.171, p = 0.013) kao i umerena pozitivna povezanost između masne telesne mase dominantne noge i vremena kontrakcije mišića biceps femoris kod žena (r = 0.384, R² adj. = 0.200, p = 0.043). Zaključak Može se zaključiti da postoji značajna povezanost između parametara telesnog sastava donjih ekstremiteta i brzine mišićne kontrakcije odnosno mišićne krutosti, kao i da reakcija glavnog mišića pregibača zgloba kolena na električnu stimulaciju pimenjenu metodom tenziomiografije do određene mere zavisi od udela masnog tkiva i bezmasne telesne mase odnosno mišićne mase donjih ekstremiteta.en_US
